Distance Education at the Vocational Technical Resource Center
Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska’s (CCTHITA) Vocational Training and Resource Center (VTRC) is a State of Alaska authorized postsecondary institution providing vocational and computer training to Southeast Alaska’s workforce. Due to Southeast Alaska’s geography, there is a segment of the population that is isolated from most post-secondary training opportunities. VTRC is currently working to close the economic gap by providing more services to these individuals through Distance Learning technologies. In addition, VTRC is currently developing course offerings in the fastest growing industries in Alaska and, by collaborating with its industry partners, VTRC is working to prepare Southeast Alaska’s workforce for the changing industrial and occupational landscape.
