Our Best Posts of 2014
How’s the new year starting out? We’re looking forward to the challenges and advantages of the next 12 months of helping nonprofits and other community-minded organizations on their paths to funding and better strategy.
But the winter months are also a good time for reflection—and for reading! We’ve been taking a look at the back posts on our blog, and found some favorites. As we push on with 2015, here are some of our posts from 2014 we’ll be referring back to for further inspiration!
On Risk
In 2014 we took some risks—rebranding from Grant Writers, LLC, for example—and we also looked at ways to help our clients negotiate risks on their paths to funding. We looked at “Risk Management and Your Nonprofit” and also at “Six Risks your Nonprofit Should be Taking.”
On Balance
We also looked at the importance of balancing your organization’s needs with the needs of your staff. In our “Play Well, Work Well” post (and also in “Play Well, Work Well Part II”) we looked at the benefits a retreat can have on motivation in your staff.
On Partnership
Partnership was the theme of “More Examples of How Partnerships Benefit Your Nonprofit” and also of the light-hearted “Franken-Profit.”
On Fun
Staying with fun themes, our “Playing Games for Social Benefit” also looks at how some nonprofits are gamifying their outreach.
On Serious Topics
On a more serious note, Laraine believes that our “Guided by Need vs. Guided by Funding” blog may be the most controversial topic we’ve addressed on the blog yet! Team member Anne Pfauth also addressed the challenges of affordable housing in Anchorage, Alaska in her post “Housing is Everyone’s Business.”
On Creativity
We addressed creativity and inspiration—and the lack of those two sometimes elusive things!—with the post “Not Just Innovation: Finding Ideas that Are Worth Repeating.” And, if the inspiration you need is to start your own nonprofit, we created the blog post “Starting a Nonprofit? Advice from a Grant Writer” just for you!
