Preserving Culture and Nature at Sitka National Historical Park
From time to time we invite our clients--and others in our extended network--to send us photos of their outreach programs. We love to help Alaskan nonprofits and Alaska Native tribes get the word out about the great things they're doing in our communities around the state.
This month, we're privileged to share with you some photos sent to us by the staff at the Sitka National Historical Park. Like other National Historical Parks around the USA, the Sitka NHP has dual duty to its community and to travelers who are seeking insight into local culture and history. The Sitka National Historical Park is the site of a battle in which the local Kiks.ádi Tlingit defended their home against Russian invaders. Adding context to the cultural influences of both sides of that battle, the park also holds a selection of traditional and modern totem poles from around Southeast Alaska, and a colonial-era restored Russian bishop's house.
Please enjoy these photos of this Alaskan treasure--and consider sharing some of your organization's own photos with us so we can celebrate your mission too!
